Swingin' on Campus

Welcome to the Edinburgh University Swing Dance Society. We are a buzzing society with regular classes in Lindy Hop, Charleston, Shag and Balboa. Anyone can join us - no dance experience is required! Just come along to one of our tasters or to one of our first two Monday classes to try it out for free. See the classes page to read about our classes and how to join.

Looking for a great swing workshop? We host two swing weekends every year with visiting teachers, social dancing and performances. You can also read more about our society, meet our team and learn about the history of swing dance.

Stay up to date with EUSDS news, including room changes, special opportunities and more.

Important Class Announcement
Dear Friends,
Due to the very high number of beginners wanting to join our society, and the tight restrictions imposed by EUSA on room capacity, we have decided to change our Saturday class to a beginners class.

Any new members wanting to learn the basics of lindy hop can therefore come along to either our Monday classes in the debating hall (Teviot) taught by Jamie and Katie, or our Saturday classes in Quaker Studio (Pleasance). Due to limited numbers, we ask that you only attend one class each week. The first 2 weeks of classes are free, and everyone is welcome regardless of whether you attended a taster session or not. In order to attend each class you will need to book a free ticket in advance using our booking system (to be shared in due course), and face coverings are mandatory in all EUSA spaces unless exempt.

We have made this decision to allow as many people as possible to experience the world of swing dance. We are sorry to any intermediates who are disappointed by this decision. We will watch how numbers change during semester, and we may start intermediate classes at a later date. We will do our best to organise socials and other events for intermediate dancers. Please keep following our social media and emails for updates on other swing dance opportunities in the city.

We look forward to meeting you again soon,
With Lindy Love,
EUSDS Committee

Swing Is Back!
EUSDS is excited to announce the return of in-person teaching! We will be hosting live and in person taster sessions during welcome week, and we will be restarting out weekly schedule of Monday, Saturday, and Sunday classes during semester. Due to EUSA restrictions we are limited with how many dancers we can host in each venue, so please stay tuned with updates on how we are going to run these classes. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the society!

With lindy love

Welcome New Swing Dancers
Welcome to all our new swing dancers. Whether you're a fresher, postgraduate, or joining us from beyond, we are excited to welcome you into the world of swing dance. I would highly recommend you read our what is swing dancing? page to get your bearings. There you can learn about and see examples of the different dance styles that come under the genre of "swing dance". You can then find some quirky EUSDS footage on our highlights page. Finally, make sure to follow our Facebook, Instagram, and mailing list to keep up to date with all the latest from EUSDS.
